El objetivo de la Sección Bilingüe es que el alumno adquiera habilidades comunicativas, sin necesidad de traducir. Para eso usamos el inglés, como lengua vehicular, en diferentes asignaturas, tales como ciencias, artes y manualidades.
Children at this age are very receptive and capable of understanding the whole message of a sentence, before knowing the meaning of any specific word. Why not, then, take advantage of this to introduce foreign language teaching to very young learners in a communicative way? Giving them the opportunity to discover a new culture through science, art, games, songs, chants and role plays will help them develop unconscious associations between their mother tongue and the new language.
Los niños a esta edad son muy receptivos y antes de conocer el significado concreto de las palabras son capaces de entender el mensaje de una frase. Entonces, por qué no aprovechamos esto para enseñar una lengua extranjera a los jóvenes estudiantes a través de un sistema de pura comunicación. Si les damos la oportunidad de descubrir una nueva cultura a través de las ciencias, el arte, los juegos, las canciones, y juegos de rol, esto les ayudará a establecer inconscientemente asociaciones entre su lengua materna y la nueva lengua.

Jolly Phonics is a systematic, sequential, phonics program designed to teach children to read. Children learn 42 sounds of the English language, rather than the alphabet. They are then taken through the stages of blending and segmenting words to develop reading and writing skills.
42 speech sounds are introduced. Each sound has a suggested storyline, a picture to colour and a corresponding action. By performing an action for each sound, students are using kinesthetic, auditory, visual and speech to help them remember. The sounds are arranged in seven, six-letter groups which have been carefully selected for several reasons.
Jolly Phonics es un método completo de lecto-escritura que utiliza el sistema “synthetic phonics” de manera multisensorial, divertida y sin duda atractiva para los niños, que aprenden a leer y escribir utilizando los sonidos de las letras.
Con Jolly Phonics se enseñan los 42 sonidos principales que podemos distinguir en la lengua inglesa y no simplemente el abecedario. Los sonidos están repartidos en siete grupos. Cuando un sonido está formado por dos letras se llama dígrafo, por ejemplo ee y or. Los dígrafos oo y th que pueden sonar de dos maneras (book/moon, that/three) se han representado de forma diferenciada para ayudar a distinguirlos.

Children at stage one learn by seeing, hearing, and doing. If the teaching goal is to carry out a specific activity rather than concentrating on the language itself, children very often become immersed in the activity with the learning process taking care of itself. For this reason, the activities for First Grade students involve children in tasks, games, songs and stories where language itself is not perceived by them as the main objective.

We spend five minutes of each session on Flash Cards. This exercise consists of showing the students several pictures (or “vips”) related to the topic we are studying in class. Pictures are shown quickly, and only once.

Daily Flash Cards activities allow the children to unconsciously acquire an increasingly significant range of vocabulary. At the end of the term, the amount of words that students know, without having carried out specific memorizing exercises, is surprising.
El ejercicio diario de los flash cards permite a los alumnos ir adquiriendo inconscientemente un volumen cada vez mayor de vocabulario. Al término del trimestre es sorprendente la cantidad de palabras que conocen sin haber realizado ejercicios específicos de memorización.
Songs we sing in class… and other nursery rhymes (click here)
Songs have been included in each unit as they provide the children with oral skills practice, models for intonation, stress patterns in the language, helping them assimilate the language in a motivating way. Songs also allow them* to mime and act out.
En cada unidad se incluyen canciones ya que proporcionan a los alumnos práctica en habilidades orales, modelos de entonación, criterios de acentuación y les motiva para asimilar el idioma. También les permite hacer mímica y actuar.
The third and fourth year have gone further, we enjoy singing famous songs. We sing a different song per lesson.

These activities have been realistically designed to help the children become skilful with their hands. Furthermore, it is important for the children to have work that can be displayed, and that they can feel proud of. Many children are strongly kinaesthetic and learn best by doing. We consider that crafts projects are an excellent way to self fulfilment and progress.
Estas actividades están especialmente diseñadas para ayudar a los niños a ser más habilidosos con sus manos. Es más, es importante que los niños puedan sentirse orgullosos de sus trabajos, que son expuestos. Muchos niños son verdaderamente imitadores, y su mejor manera de aprender es la práctica. Por lo que consideramos que las manualidades son una vía excelente para realizarse y progresar.
Individual word recognition and, fine motor control and coordination will be promoted through a variety of situations and contexts. Therefore, activities will incorporate into their objectives and procedures the functional and communicative potential of language.
El reconocimiento de palabras concretas y coordinación motriz se potenciarán a través de diferentes situaciones y contextos. Así, las actividades incorporarán en sus objetivos y procedimientos el potencial funcional y comunicativo del idioma.
